MoSIN at Food Allergy Forum 2025
On September 22nd to 24th, members of our research consortium attended the 4th edition of Food Allergy Forum at Hotel Casa Amsterdam.
We shared our latest insights on food allergen analysis, monitoring, labelling, and communication with researchers, industry partners, and policy makers.
For the Catch-up session, Kitty Verhoeckx was invited to present challenges and opportunities surrounding novel foods in food allergy and highlighted the growing risk of high-protein products. During her presentation, she showcased our aims and planned work within NWO-KIC MoSIN.
Michelle Chou presented her joint work with Sim Ray Yue from the ALLPreT consortium in a poster on the ranking of plant-derived components for reference proteins to be used in allergenicity assessment tools for novel foods. Mirte Florie gave an oral presentation on her studies exploring the allergic consumers’ perspective on precautionary allergen labelling (PAL) and the reporting of allergic reactions. In addition, she presented two posters: one focusing on the consumers’ perspective on post-market monitoring (PMM), and another on the food business operators’ perspective.
The conference offered a great opportunity for networking and exchanging ideas with experts in the field of food allergy. We gained valuable feedback and inspiration to further strengthen our ongoing work on improving allergen analysis, communication, and monitoring systems.
We’re excited to build on these insights as our research continues!
